FAQ — Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is Opal Saga Geneva a company?
No, I'm a private individual who collects Australian opals in my spare time. As part of this, I created Opal Saga Geneva in 2021.

2. Do you have a store where I can see your opals?
No, I have a job, and Opal Saga Geneva isn't my main occupation. To open a shop and dedicate myself fully to Opal Saga Geneva, I would need to sell a huge volume of opals every month, which is far from the case. Appointments can be made upon request, depending on my availability.

3. Can we call you?
Yes, with great pleasure. It's possible outside of my working hours. Please contact me by email (info@opalsaga.ch) to arrange a telephone appointment.

4. What languages do you speak?
French, English and Spanish.

5. How often do you offer new opals?
It depends on my available time and the lots I manage to buy at good prices. Two to six months or more can pass between listings.

6. Are your opals natural or treated?
All my Australian opals are natural: they are not stabilized, heated, or chemically treated. I do not sell Andamooka matrix opals (often treated), nor doublets or triplets.

7. Where do your Australian opals come from?
Over 90% of my opals are purchased directly from Australian sellers and cutters. Occasionally, I acquire lots of Australian opals from sellers based in other countries. I have chosen to ensure excellence in the type of opal and its origin (only Australian opals) to guarantee authenticity and quality.

8. Are you interested in buying my Australian opals?
It's possible, but knowing that I buy my opals close to the source at very good prices, I will not be able to buy your Australian stones at retail price.

9. Do opals have any effects in lithotherapy?
I am not qualified in lithotherapy. In terms of values and well-being, I can only state that my Australian opals do not involve child labor in their extraction or transportation. This is rarely the case with other stones.

10. How do you film opals?
Between 2024 and the end of December 2026, I used an iPhone 11 placed 5–15 cm below a desk lamp with a cool white bulb.

11. Are the colors accurate in photos and videos?
Most shades are rendered well under direct lighting, but some blues may appear more intense. Additional explanations are often provided in videos.

12. How can you imagine the size/dimension of an opal?
Stones and jewelry may appear larger in photos or videos than they actually are. Refer to the dimensions in millimeters and visual references (grid ruler, coin) or draw them on graph paper to better visualize.

13. How are the stone or jewelry packaged for shipping?
Each stone or piece of jewelry is protected by two to three layers of suitable packaging to ensure its integrity; to date, I have not encountered any problems.

14. How does delivery work?
Shipments are sent exclusively by registered mail from Geneva, Switzerland, with tracking and insurance provided by Swiss Post. Shipping costs are displayed during checkout. Delivery time is 5 business days after payment is received (excluding holiday periods, which are announced on the website).

15. Do you deliver outside Switzerland?
Usually not, as Switzerland is not part of the European Free Trade Area. Shipping can be arranged upon prior request; all shipping and customs fees are then the responsibility of the buyer.

16. I don't feel confident buying online, what should I do?
If you prefer to buy in person (not online), I am happy to forgo sales rather than sell to someone who is hesitant or unsure remotely. Please contact businesses or individuals with a physical sales location. Otherwise, you can contact me by email (info@opalsaga.ch) to arrange a phone call. Occasionally, it is possible to schedule an appointment outside of my regular business hours.

17. I don't like the opal I received: how does a return work?
You have 15 calendar days after receipt to return an unused item by registered mail. For example, for a gemstone costing CHF 300 with CHF 5 shipping (CHF 305 paid), the refund will be CHF 300; return shipping costs are your responsibility. In case of an error on my part (wrong item or description), the initial and return shipping costs will be refunded. Opals or cut, altered, or love-marked jewelry cannot be returned.

18. How do you determine the price of an opal?
Great question! An explanatory video will be available soon to detail my pricing method. In the meantime, please watch my two videos on mage “learn more” page.

19. Have you changed the prices recently?
Prices may vary depending on market fluctuations, exchange rates and stone rarity.
